How to install a basketball net in 5 steps

5 steps to quickly install a basketball hoop net.

1. Move closer to the edge of the net.

You'll notice it has a wide and a narrow end. The wider part is the top end of the net, which you'll attach to the ring. Grasp this top part with both hands and move towards the edge.

2. Bring your head up to the level of the edge.

This usually requires a ladder, unless you're three meters tall. This is important because securing the net to the edge can sometimes require tricky and tight maneuvers. You should be able to see exactly what you're doing from a stable base.

3. Grab one end of the loop of the upper net section and pull it through one of the chain links.

You will notice that the chain links at the top have a small gap through which you can pull the net. You will often need to apply some force, as the gap is intentionally kept small to ensure the net is securely fastened.

4. Once the loop has passed through the chain link, press it down so that it fits into the smaller sections on the side of the chain link.

Here too, you sometimes need to apply some force. Once you have pressed the loop of the net downwards, pull the net towards you. This will lock the net into that particular chain link.

5. Repeat this process for each chain link.

Make sure you insert the loops into the correct chain links – if you skip a loop and insert the wrong loop into the wrong link, you'll end up with an empty link. Your net will be crooked, less aesthetically pleasing, and more prone to damage.
