Regardless of the type of team you coach, the official regulation volleyball net height is always measured at the center of the net, and the sides of the net cannot be higher than ¾ inch from the regulation height. Although there are differences between the height of men's and women's volleyball nets, mixed games use the height settings of men's nets.

How to measure volleyball net height: 5 steps

When measuring the height of your volleyball net, keep the following in mind to ensure you don't make a mistake when measuring:

1. Always measure the height of your net from the center of the playing court using an appropriate measuring device (net chain).
2. While measuring, make sure that both ends of your volleyball net (above the sidelines) are at the same height in relation to the volleyball playing surface.
   
    
3. Never exceed the official volleyball net height by more than ¾ inch.
   
    
4. If you coach beach volleyball, remember that your beach volleyball net height measurement must be taken at sand level. 
    
5. If you're coaching outdoor volleyball in the grass, remember to measure the height of your volleyball net from ground level, not from the top of the grass blades
